On Diet and Gain Weight
I went to shopping mall have lunch together at an kitchen brand fast food restaurant with my new colleagues. How many pieces of kitchen you can eat? When I order three pieces kitchen meal set, they are so surprise. Then our lunch topic started with slimming, diet and diet pills that work.
I cannot believe that 90% of my new team members now are on diet or slimming program. Some claim that they have to maintain small intakes every day because they easily get fat. But I don’t find they are overweight. They said nowadays seldom people can eat much like me. When I told them I am on gain weight program, they showed their envy faces where I can eat as much as I can without gaining weight.
Office Equipments
Again, the company photocopy machine done. We have to call and follow up when their technician will come for the repair. This happened the third times within a month. I already make my complaint and perhaps our management will consider change a new machine.
Luckily the breakdown is the photocopy machine. It not much affected our daily operation. If the same problem happened to our small business phone systems, I am sure not only our customers will complaint but our boss will jam too.
Photocopy machine, telephone and computers are the importance office equipments to help on running business smoothly. How can a business run without them nowadays?
Sales and Marketing
To ensure the company having continues income, the sales department plays a very importance role. The sales jobs can be easily found in newspaper recruitment section every day. It is one of the easily apply position. The bosses always have target to their sales staffs to achieve to ensure the company is running profitability. This is the challenge to work in sales department.
Sales team can easily get their commission if the company good to promote their products. Nevertheless, if a company having very strong sales and marketing team but within a range of good and quality products to sell, their business will failed sooner or later.
Cooperation Needed
All the auto insurance quotes are submitted at the earlier stage and we had already prepared the payment as per the approval. The cheque was issued one week ago. My team member supposes to follow up the signatures status but too bad she was on leave for few day. So, I get trouble when noticed that the deadline is arrived and the cheque still got no signature.
This is only one example. We have plenty of payment issued with different deadline. Cheques issued will go to my department boss then pass to get signatories. To get the complete signed cheques, it might takes few minutes if they are fully aware the emergency. If not, it may takes more then one or two weeks.
I fully understand that how busy our authorizes signing person are. But I do wish that they can consistency spend some amount of time to this matter so that the operation can goes smooth. This is what I always wish.
Self Appraisal
Here comes the year end and we all got our appraisal forms. Different from previous years, this year our new department boss asked us to do self appraisal. We determine how good we are, and she will give her marks later.
Last year appraised by different boss. Different bosses have different expectation.
I had completed and submitted my form and now pending for her appraisal. I really wish to know how she values my job performance. I know how good I am. To me, it seems like I am far away to reach her target. So, I wish to know, at what level I am at her targeted point.
I am not looking for a very good appraisal this year because I know I have much more rooms to improve. My job function now is much more different compare to last year. To me, I had improved so much. I do appreciate for the opportunity given by the bosses. Let’s see how far I can go…
Busy Body
I don’t think our HR department is comparing any car insurance quotes before they renew the car insurances. Maybe this is our company normal practice so I didn’t ask further.
As I know, we are renewing the car insurances from our company panel insurance agent. Maybe the quotes will be done by the insurance agent not us? I have no idea and dare not to ask as I am not in the related department.
I am in doubt whether we might pay extra. My query is who will go to make sure that the insurance agent is doing their jobs well? Am I looking like a busy body?
I Miss My Ex-Job
I miss my ex-job so much.
The environment is so dirty, noisy and the air is polluted because that is a machine repair workshop. I forced to do stock count for all the machinery spare parts. Bolts, nuts, plungers, valves, spring, seals, rods, industrial handles, bearings, belts, plugs, cables, and etc…. Some are really dirty enough and stock count is the job that I hate the most.
But I missed the time I work with the company. I have time to do my works relaxingly. I enjoy chit chatting with my colleagues and bosses, without worry of account closing deadline and without any stress of rushing reports because I can handle my job very well.
I have no more chance to enjoy such relaxing working hours after I work with my current company. The work load is more and more heavy and I feel so stress and worry I can not done and complete my jobs well……
Vacancy
Is it easy to find jobs now? There are many recruitment ads out there, I don’t think if a person really wants to look for a job will not manage to get a post.
I am wondering will it because nowadays people are educated and they are more qualification than old time people? Because of their qualification, they will not simply apply a job they are no interest at all. Besides, nowadays people can easily earn and they might not really need a full time job to survive.
Our company vacancy ads already out and it is nearly close to deadline now but the respond is no good at all. I am worrying how soon I can get a right person to take over the ex-colleague’s jobs. Because I need to take care of her job now, all my tasks are pending. I am going to be crazy….
System is Slow
I found that our accounting system is running a bit slow recently. This problem will be more serious when we click to view reports. Is it means that we need to do something to prevent it goes worst?
Perhaps this problem can be solved by just upgrading the computer memory. If this is the case, we can direct contact our IT technician to get it done. The fact is, is it really what we think?
We are always confused whenever problems come to problems related to our accounting system. Normally we will contact our accounting system support first to get advice on how to solve our problems before we ask helps from our IT technician. But the problems is, they are too busy and will only respond to us around three to four days. This considered ‘fast respond’ accordingly to records. *sigh*
System runs slow is not a big problem, isn’t it? Luckily this issue can wait to be solved.
Right Tool
To work efficiently and effectively, a right tool is needed.
My new boss arranged a meeting with our system programmer to discuss on how they can support to ease our paper works. We do aware that the reports we worked out in Excel format which all info and data extract from our system are double work but we don’t think our system can help. But our new boss has different way of thinking.
She believes all these can be done by customization. Too bad we got a negative feedback from the system programmer.
We are using knifes and scissors to cut. But box cutter is the right tool to cut boxes. We are asking the programmer turn two different things into one which is a bit ridiculous.
