Be Alert at the Raining with Lightning Day
The power of lightning strike break the wiring cover panel on the wall and hit the modem, telephone connector, telephone splitter, ceiling light ballast and Astor decoder.
Internet modem is the most sensitive item when heavy lightning. This is the second time we changed modem due to lightning strike.
Besides, we also been advised do not take shower when raining with thunderbolt. It is a good habit to unplug electric plug when it is not in used as well. After we discovered how strong the lightning strike is, we have to be more precautions.
Shopping Day
We will go to nearby shopping mall today. Hubby wishes to buy a new Skull Candy earphone because his existing one was malfunction after accidentally dropped into water. I need him to carry all the stuffs in my grocery purchase list. We will look for trolley school bags for two little princess as well.
Besides, we will go and pay the credit card outstanding at that shopping mall as well. It is truly easy and convenience to have bank machines at shopping mall, where we can settle some transaction at the weekend during our happy shopping hours.
Telekom Service
It was public holiday when I contacted Telekom reported for the telephone connection and internet connection failure due to lightning strike. I have been told that my problem will be solved within 48 hours.
Telekom’s contractor came to my house at the next day morning which that day was public holiday as well. At first, he told me that he already checked the telephone box outside and the connections were fine. He came into my house for better understanding of the problem. Then he moved up to the telephone pole at the back of my house to check the connections.
After that, he returned in to my house again, checked the wiring from the telephone pole, test the connector and found that was broken. Besides, the splitter was spoiled as well.
I already knew I have to change a new modem because that was the common problem cause by lightning strike. Since I have one space new modem at home and my brother in law knows how to do the setting, we save the cost for that. I have to pay RM20 for the new telephone connector and splitter which I feel the price is reasonable. For your info, I got a receipt under Telekom letterhead with the mobile contact number of the nice and young Malay Telekom’s contractor. If I still need further assistance, I can direct contact him.
It takes about half an hour to settle my problem. I received a call from Telekom to confirm my connections are back to normal which I believe the call was made from the telephone box nearby but not from Telekom office.
The next day morning (working day) I received SMS from Telekom about their service was done successfully.
My brother in law helped me to do the setting for the new modem, and found that the internet connection was not up yet. He called and lodged another report. The next day, connection was back to normal.
I believe if I pay to the Telekom contractor on the spot for the new setting, the problem will be solved on that same day. He asked for discounted rate of RM80 which I thing I can save on it. I really don’t know the reason behind why it still takes time after the setting be done by ourselves. Anyway, as long as the problem is solved, I am still happy with Telekom prompt service.
